The Associate, Guy Richie’s latest project, has already got stars lined up around the block. Paramount Plus intends to host the series, which will be focused on two generations of gangsters in London.

Some names currently in negotiations are Helen Mirren, Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Celia Imrie, and Sir Ben Kingsley.  Hardy is reportedly up for the role of ‘fixer’ while Mirren and Brosnan are looking to play the crime family’s matriarch and patriarch. Surprisingly, although Helen Mirren’s dry, understated delivery and Guy Richie’s love of sarcastic dialogue might seem like a natural fit, this (if all goes to plan) will be the first time they’ve partnered up. Hardy has been on a Guy Richie set before, in RocknRolla.

Richie has called in Ronan Bennett from Top Boy as a writer, although it's unclear if anyone else will be on the bill. And, of course, Guy Richie has authored many screenplays himself.

Although Guy Richie has occasionally worked on gentler topics like the Aladdin live-action remake and the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, The Associate’s premise falls right into his wheelhouse. Snatch, RocknRolla, Revolver and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels come from his massive body of work. We’ll keep you updated on any progress concerning The Associate as the news comes in.
