Top 10 Characters We Want To See In The DCU

James Gunn’s DC Universe, DCU, already has many heroes with Superman, Blue Beetle, the Lanterns, and others already confirmed. However, with DC’s enormous catalogue of heroes, this is just barely scratching the surface. Here are ten more that I would like to see added.
10. Beast Boy

Beast Boy, aka Garfield Logan, has the ability to transform into any animal. The only problem is that any animal he becomes is green. So much for being a chameleon or an octopus. That doesn’t bother him, though. He’s not the blending in type anyway. A member of the Teen Titans, he could also be a way in for a bunch of other characters.

9. Bumblebee

In the proud tradition of Batman, The Atom, and other DC heroes, Bumblebee doesn’t have any powers herself. She’s just really smart and built herself a super suit. It gives her the ability to fly like an insect, change size, and shoot stingers. Her real name is Karen Beecher-Duncan. She can help any team both as a hero and a brilliant scientist.
8. Doctor Fate

Doctor Fate is one of the most powerful heroes in the DC universe. The Helmet of Fate gives him immortality and invulnerability. He can also use magic. His alter ego, Kent Nelson, is an academic. No one would suspect how powerful he is once he dons the Helmet.
7. Monitor

The Monitor is as old as the multiverse which he watches over. When the multiverse was created, another anti-matter multiverse was also created. The anti-matter multiverse spawned a being known as the Anti-monitor. The Monitor and Anti-Monitor have been locked in battle for billions of years. At times, like the “Crisis on Infinite Earths”, the Monitor has recruited many of Earth’s greatest heroes, and sometimes villains, to help in the battle.
6. Plastic Man

Plastic Man would bring some humor into the DCU. At times he is just plain silly, but he does have an amazing power. He can stretch and take any form imaginable. He might be a table or a chair or a piece of clothing. Plastic Man’s real name is Patric “Eel” O’Brian. He is a reformed criminal and quick with a quip as he fights crime.
5. Raven

Rachel Roth, aka Raven, has a human mother, but a demon for a father. Not wanting to succumb to her demonic heritage, she has worked very hard to master that side of her personality. She mostly keeps to herself to help her keep control. She is slow to make friends but is incredibly loyal once she does.
4. Starfire

Starfire was born on the planet Tamaran. She was the heir, but a coup displaced her. She was captured by evil scientists before reaching Earth. Her powers, like Superman, come from the Sun. Her real name is Koriand’r. She can come off as naive, but her natural charm makes her very popular. She loves Earth and its people and will do anything to defend them.
3. Static

Static is a teenaged superhero. Like Spider-Man in the Marvel universe, he is always trying to balance his superhero role with schoolwork and a social life. His real name is Virgil Hawkins. As his superhero name suggests, he can control electro-magnetic fields and generate electricity. He doesn’t even know how far his powers will go, but he will always use them for good.
2. Vixen

Vixen, who was born Mari McCabe, inherited the Tantu Totem from her parents. The totem gives her the ability to take on the attributes of any animal. Unlike Beast Boy, Vixen does not change form. Instead, she is a human with the strength of a gorilla or the speed of a cheetah. As Mari, she is a model and fights for animal rights. As Vixen she has been part of the Justice League.
1. Zatanna

Zatanna Zatara is a magician who uses real magic. She can conjure just about anything she can imagine. Her father, also a magician, was killed when she was young, so Zatanna has relatively little training in the use of magic. Still, she is a powerful and creative force for good.
As I said at the beginning, DC has a vast array of characters. There are plenty more that I would like to see. However, these would add some variety and highlight some of the lesser-known characters which would benefit the DCU.
