Disney’s The Owl House was one of the most successful shows on Disney Channel in the 2020s. The series follows a young girl named Luz who arrives in the magical realm of the Boiling Isles, capturing the imaginations of many young viewers with its compelling storytelling and richly imaginative world. It also played a significant role in expanding diverse storytelling.
Ending in 2023, many fans have advocated for a spin-off series—whether exploring the adventures of a young Eda the Owl Lady on Earth or continuing the story from where the finale left off. But should The Owl House receive a continuation or expansion, or is it best left as it is?

Young Eda-The Series

If you ask many fans of The Owl House what they think an Owl House spin-off series should focus on, many would point to the adventures of a young Eda the Owl Lady. Eda (Voiced by Wendie Malick) , Luz’s mentor figure, had a rich history of mischief and trouble-making long before the events of the main series. Known for her rebellious nature, Eda frequently used her portal to the human world, where she stole, got into all sorts of shenanigans, and embarked on thrilling adventures.
The idea of a prequel starring the mentor figure isn’t new—many franchises have taken this approach to explore how a mentor gained the skills and experience necessary to guide the hero. It would be fascinating to see what Eda was up to during her travels—the adventures she embarked on, the enemies she faced, and the temporary allies she may have made along the way.
While a young Eda series would certainly be interesting, it would face challenges as a prequel to the main show. One major issue is the question of where key characters introduced in The Owl House were during this time. As many Star Wars fans can attest, prequels often raise continuity questions that can complicate the overall narrative.
Sequel Series

Less of a spin-off and more of a continuation, many fans would love to return to the Boiling Isles to see an older Luz Noceda and her friends continue their fun and fantastical adventures in the magical realm they grew to love.
A sequel series has its pros and cons. On the positive side, it’s always exciting to revisit The Owl House universe and see what our favorite characters are up to. Watching them grow older and more mature while facing new and intriguing challenges can be a compelling way to explore their evolution. For example, it would be interesting to see how Luz and Amity’s relationship has progressed, as it was one of the cornerstones of the original series. Seeing where they are now as more mature characters could add new layers to their dynamic.
On the downside, one has to consider whether continuing the story is truly necessary. Sequels to concluded stories can be tricky, as one doesn’t want to simply retread old ground or force a narrative that doesn’t need to exist. Sometimes, it’s best to let a story stand on its own and appreciate what has already been told rather than extending it unnecessarily.
Should it Continue

The Owl House was and remains one of Disney’s most beloved original properties to air on the Disney Channel. A spin-off series, whether a sequel or a prequel, could further expand the lore and mythology of the Boiling Isles. Of course, whether we get one depends on whether the show's creators are interested in returning to continue the story and expand its world. If they do, it would be an exciting return to the Boiling Isles—hopefully, with Disney footing the bill to make it happen.
