A New Trailer For 'Moana 2' Was Revealed At D23
A new trailer for Moana 2 was revealed at D23! The animated sequel musical will take place three years after the original film ends. Now with more experience as a Wayfinder, Moana is tasked by her ancestors with seeking out an ancient island that promises to break a curse on her people once found. This will allow them to, at long last, connect their people.
Breaking the curse will be no easy task, neither will voyaging across the sea. The trailer introduces Mantangi (Awhimai Fraser), the likely new antagonist that makes the Lava Monster look tame. Mantangi isn’t the only threat. The Kakamora coconut pirates armed with sleepy blow darts are returning to pillage where they can.

Moana will need all the help she can get. Pua, her delightful pig from the first film, will not be left on the sidelines this round. It appears that Moana will once again have her stealth chicken Hei Hei on board as well, with Alan Tudyk reprising his role, and of course, Maui is back! “Can I get a cheeeehoooo?” She will also have a crew this time around, new characters Moni (Hualalai Chung), Kele (David Fane), and Loto (Rose Matafeo).
Tudyk is not the only familiar actor to reprise his role. Auli'i Cravalho (Moana), Dwayne Johnson (Maui), Rachel House (Tala – Moana’s grandmother), Temuera Morrison (Chief Tui – Moana’s father), and Nicole Scherzinger (Sina – Moana’s mother) are also returning!
Another notable new character is Moana’s precious baby sister, Simea (Khaleesi Lambert-Tsud), who fears for her big sister’s survival. Before Moana sets sail, she promises to come back to her.
Moana 2 hits theaters on November 27, 2024! Check out the trailer below!
