'The Acolyte' May Be Releasing This Summer
It appears as if the non-stop Star Wars content on Disney+ is continuing. With the animated show The Bad Batch having recently had its third and final season premiere on the streaming service, it appears as if a later show, The Acolyte, has had its date announced, and it's sooner than many fans likely thought. Although Disney has never confirmed nor denied it, sources have recently stated that the show will premiere on June 5, 2024. "We actually were intrigued with that because if that show works, then it really gives us an opportunity to expand on that. And that's what's so great about television because it gives us sort of this larger playground for experimenting." Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in an interview with Collider back in 2022.
The show will take place approximately a century before the events of the prequel trilogy during the High Republic, and is described as being “a mystery-thriller” by show creator Leslye Headland, who stated that “A former Padawan will reunite with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.” It is also expected to give a lot of information about the Sith. There are unconfirmed rumours that a trailer will be released on May 4.
