'Smallville' Actor Chris Gauthier Passes Away At 48
Chris Gauthier, an actor known for roles in productions such as Smallville and Once Upon a Time, passed away on February 23, 2024. His management, under TriStar Appearances, confirmed this news, stating it was due to a short, unspecified illness. He was 48 years old.
Gauthier was born on January 27, 1976, in Luton, England. Several years later, his family moved to Armstrong, British Columbia, Canada. The actor gained formal training in his craft while in school, taking classes at the Vernon School of Speech and Drama. He started acting young, pursuing theatre roles and honing his craft.

The actor had a fairly long career with a variety of roles. Gauthier held a fair few television roles, including Ronald Reznick in seasons two and four of Supernatural, Walter in The Sanctuary, Smee in Once Upon a Time, Vincent in Eureka, and Phil in the Netflix version of A Series of Unfortunate Events. One of his most well-known roles was as the Toyman in Smallville, a recurrent character over several seasons. In the film industry, some of Gauthier’s most well-known roles include Mikey in 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002), Shack in Freddy vs. Jason (2003), and Mr. Geldon in Monster Trucks (2016). He even voiced a video game character, Neville, in Need For Speed: Carbon (2006)!
Gauthier held a variety of roles, leaving a well-defined mark on the industry. He is survived by his wife, Erin, and his two children.
