Karl Urban may be getting ready to “test his might” as Johnny Cage in the sequel to 2021’s Mortal Kombat. A source close to the production of the film revealed to IGN that Urban is in final negotiations to play the character.

Urban is no stranger to large franchises, as he’s currently starring in Prime Video’s superhero satire The Boys and appeared as Éomer in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He also appeared as Leonard McCoy in the 2009-2016 Star Trek films, Siberius Vaako in The Chronicles of Riddick series, Skurge the Executioner in Thor: Ragnarok, Judge Dredd in Dredd, The Bourne Supremacy, William Cooper in Red, Jacob Holland in The Sea Beast, and even made a cameo as a stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
