Netflix Announces Toy Line For Live-Action 'One Piece' Adaptation
Set sail, One Piece fans! Streaming giant Netflix has just announced a new toy line based on the upcoming live-action series. The figures for the show were revealed at Anime Expo and feature their new live-action designs, though they appear to be mostly true to the source material. Featured in this line are the Straw Hat pirates as they appeared in the manga/anime's East Blue arc.
There will be two types of figures in this line. The first is the non-posable ones produced by World Collectible Figures. These appear to include the whole crew (Luffy, Nami, Sanji, Zoro, and Usopp) in addition to their ship, the Going Merry, in a super-deformed chibi style.
The second type is the posable figures produced by SH Figuarts. Only Zoro and Luffy have been confirmed at this time, but the series itself will sail onto Netflix on August 31st of this year. In addition, it has recently been confirmed that the original Japanese cast from the anime will be reprising their roles in the Japanese dub of the live-action series. Fans of the anime can currently watch it on Crunchyroll and catch it on Toonami Saturday nights at 1:30am, where they are just finishing the Punk Hazard arc.
