Anthony Mackie has been spotted and interviewed in Atlanta. The actor is in Atlanta filming for the upcoming Captain America: New World Order. The film has some changed from the last iteration of the Star-spangled superhero. For one, it won’t be directed by the Russo brothers. Instead, Julius Onah will step in to direct the film. Mackie praises Julius’s grasp of the character and story of Captain America: Brave New World. The story of Brave New World revolves around Sam Wilson's search for his role among his fellow superheroes.

Anothony would go on to say, “We agree on a lot of sh*t with the world around us” — and praises the director’s grasp on character and story. As for the action, he’s not worried.

During the interview, Anthony discussed his business ventures and his enthusiasm for launching restaurants. Anthony manages to balance his work in Atlanta with his work in New Orleans. This is where he resides with his four sons who live with their mother. A fun fact for Anthony Mackie is that he owns a bar with some friends in Beverly Hills. Yet, nothing compares to their “flagship” of the operation.

“I have a gay bar in New Orleans that is the crown jewel of gay bars,” Mackie retorts. “My brother and his husband were like, ‘We need a place to party.’ I’m like, ‘Let's open a f*cking place to party.’”

Mackie did not want to stop there and wanted to open more restaurants. “I wanted to open a restaurant called Fusion Confusion,” continued Anthony. “It’s inspired by some of his own recipes. He tells me about his soul food tacos: New Orleans-style stewed beef neck bones with potatoes, vegetables, and a little gravy in a taco shell. There’s also “Ethiopian tacos” and “soul food sushi.”

In addition to his acting career, Anthony Mackie takes advantage of many other opportunities. This has led Mackie to say to talk about the possibility of the Screen Actors Guild joining the Writer’s Guild of America in striking. Mackie reveals his feelings on the tenuous nature of the industry.

“Once the studios went public and were bought out by major companies, we were f*cked,” Mackie continued. “It’s no longer about art. It’s no longer about interesting, fun work. It’s about end-of-the-quarter profit sharing. It’s about shareholders. So you’re literally just raping and pillaging the industry. It’s cannibalism.”

Mackie will also appear inTwisted Metal, which follows a motor-mouthed outsider who is offered a chance at a better life if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Anthony Mackie’s John Doe was a minor character in the original games. He will guide audiences through Twisted Metal’s gonzo world of marauders and cannibals. Although Will Arnett voices the character, Mackie filmed his scenes with professional wrestler Samoa Joe. The game will be available on PlayStation 5.

Captain America, New World Order is expected release in July 26, 2026, whilst Twisted Metal is due to debut later this month.
