James Gunn Gives Update On DC's 'The Authority'
James Gunn’s reboot of the DC Universe has received a new status update, specifically for The Authority. The film side of things for this Universe has been quiet, sans the upcoming Superman project, and this has been for a specific reason. Gunn has cleared up the current state of The Authority, stressing a desire to not rush the process:
“We won’t greenlight a film until we have a finished script we’re happy with and, in general, we won’t cast a film until the script is finished. This is why some projects are moving faster than anticipated and others more slowly. It’s always gonna be quality first no matter what.”
The Authority is a team of superheroes who do what is necessary to contain a situation no matter the degree of intensity, prominently appearing in a comic series of the same name. The series was created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch and published under the Wildstorm imprint for DC Comics. Prominent members of the team include Jenny Sparks, Swift, Apollo, The Doctor, Jack Hawksmoor, and Midnighter.
