Gillian Anderson Not Ruling Out A Return As Agent Scully
If there’s any series that loves a reboot, it’s The X-Files. According to Gillian Anderson; Ryan Coogler (Creed, Black Panther) has approached creator, Chris Carter to bring new life to the hit 90s/00s sci-fi show. Anderson has a busy schedule, working on some of the most critically acc laimed and binge-worthy series on television including, Sex Education, The Great, and The Crown. But in a recent interview, she didn’t sound averse to a return.
“Whether I am involved in it is a whole other thing. I’m not saying no. I think he’s really cool and I think if he did it, it would probably be done incredibly well. And maybe I’ll pop in for a little something something.”
The X-Files first aired in 1993 and starred David Duchovny (Fox Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully) as basement-dwelling, alien-hunting FBI agents. After nine seasons and two feature films, it was cancelled in 2002. The end came about after a dispute between David Duchovny and Fox, causing the actor to exit the show in seasons eight and nine, tanking the ratings. However, The X-Files fanbase was rabid, (picture Swifties in suits with torches), so Chris Carter got funding for another movie a few years later, reuniting the pair. The X-Files: I Want to Believe hit cinemas in 2008.
