'Godzilla Minus One' Roars Into Worldwide Streaming On Netflix

In a surprise release, Godzilla: Minus One made its way to Netflix and is now streaming worldwide except for Japan and France. Takashi Yamakazi’s take on the kaiju genre is set at the end of World War II just after the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. In the film, Kōichi Shikisima, a kamikaze pilot, abandons his plan to sacrifice himself and lands on Odo Island. This plan change leads to his survival as a radioactive Godzilla attacks the area.
The film stands out not only for its story but from its stunning and clever visual effects. IGN praised the film in their review, “A rousing, spectacle-filled blockbuster, Godzilla: Minus One takes the king of monsters back to his roots in post-WWII Japan. The story is character-driven, but the monster scenes are exciting and effective.”

For those without access to Netflix, the monster movie is available to purchase or rent as a digital copy in color or in black and white on Apple TV, Amazon, and Google Play. In addition to the film returning to its roots, Godzilla: Minus One also showed innovation. The film won an Oscar this year for Best Visual Effects, marking the first Oscar win for the franchise.
