Fans of the Hargreeve family rejoice. The popular Netflix series has released the trailer for its fourth (and sadly final) season. According to Entertainment Weekly, the Hargreeves are “back to the time period they’ve always wanted to get back to” as creator Steve Blackman has the siblings stripped of their powers. Within the trailer, the Hargreeves “clearly didn't finish what he needed to do before Alison pressed the button.” As a result, repercussions to their timeline are expected.

As the plays, a booming voice announces “Our world is changing, has changed….Gifted with abilities far beyond the ordinary" as a montage of the “inaugural class of the Umbrella Academy” plays in the foreground. There is no shortage of dangerous scenarios for Viktor, Number Five, Luther, and the rest of the cast to get embroiled. Ever since the series premiere in 2019, the once estranged siblings came together to stop the apocalypse, halt the eventual assassination of John F. Kennedy, and handle a new alternate timeline in the present.

Considering the Universal Machine has yet to be completed, Blackman further emphasizes the helplessness of the Hargreeves as they no longer have their powers and must come to terms with what is “normal” among those who have not been “normal” since the show’s beginning and their comic origins.

Come August 8, Netflix’s Umbrella Academy will show fans what it truly means for the Hargreeves to be a family without their powers. Without their primary connection, will Viktor, Luther, and the others maintain their bond? Season four will have eager fans waiting on bated breath to find out.
