Qimir and Osha

We have finally made it to the season finale of The Acolyte and what a wild ride it’s been. The finale was a great end to this incredible show, even if it did leave us with many unanswered questions.

A lot happened in this finale, so buckle up. We start with Osha and Qimir, right after she put on the helmet in episode 6. It shows her something horrible, and Qimir struggles to get the helmet off her. Osha is determined to leave to find her sister on Brendok, but Qimir of course, has to come with. The entire time, she tells him that “she is not like her sister”, which we find out later is untrue. After they leave, we see a bony figure peek out of a dark cave. Without giving too much away, fans have been speculating that this character could appear in the show. We are then back to Mae and Sol, and the aftermath of Sol telling the truth. Mae does not react well to it and can escape her restraints thanks to Pip.

She's able to take the ship and leave. Sol follows, and a chase ensues between the Brendok’s rings. It all comes to a head on Brendok. Sol fights Qimir, in another great fight sequence. Mae and Osha fight each other. The transition between the two fights was extremely well done. Eventually, Sol confesses the truth in front of them all, and Osha starts to change. Osha’s change is quite evident here, and what she does to the lightsaber, is such a cool scene. A certain Jedi meets their end. The two sisters separate once more, with Osha going with Qimir and Mae being captured by Vernestra. She questions Mae and asks her to help find someone. The episode ends with Vernestra visiting a familiar, green, Jedi Master

This show was phenomenal for so many reasons. The characters were all interesting and likable, even the bad ones. Sol, played by Lee Jung-Jae was the standout for me. He was a great Jedi, and I enjoyed seeing him on my screen every week. Amandla Stenberg was incredible in both Mae and Osha. She was able to embody both characters and play them so differently. The fight sequences were exciting, and some of the best I have seen in recent Star Wars content. The fight between Sol and Qimir in the finale was one of the best, and Sol was able to hold his own against a powerful adversary. The outfits worn during the High Republic era are something else, especially the Jedi robes. The music was always amazing as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show and I think it deserves a season 2, but that doesn’t mean that it didn't have issues The biggest issues were the lack of episodes and the length of the episodes. The middle of the season suffered the most from short episodes, which then affected the pacing. You would start to get into what was happening, and then it would be over. The two flashback episodes were great, it’s a bummer that one of them counted as the second to last episode.

This season of The Acolyte was amazing, and one of my favorite recent Star Wars shows. The positives outweigh the negatives of this show. The finale did leave me with more questions, that I hope will be answered in season 2, because this show deserves it.
