Physical media doesn’t seem to be dead yet and in some ways might be making a comeback. In recent weeks Disney officially announced that it would be releasing its Disney+ exclusive content onto physical media this year with The Mandalorian, Wandavision, Loki, and soon Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Many fans hope that this will be the start of more physical releases of Disney plus content to come.

Well according to rumors there may be another Star Wars physical release on the horizon. According to leaker THEDISCFATHER they have stated that Disney’s critically acclaimed series Andor will be receiving a Blu-Ray digital release as well sometime next year. This would make a great addition to the collections of many Star Wars fans.

Hopefully, this continued trend will mean more Disney physical releases as well as DVDs and Blu-rays from other studios in the years ahead.

2. Dragon Age Series For Netflix

Video games are wildly popular. Some of them are so expansive, and have a great story, that it's almost like watching a movie. It's no wonder that with the popularity of video games, studios would want to capitalize on this market. There have been various adaptations throughout the years, some good, like the most recent The Last Of Us series, and some bad, such as Super Mario Bros from the 90s. The newest one may be based on the beloved Bioware series, Dragon Age

A live-action Dragon Age adaptation is supposedly in the works at Netflix. The series is expected to take place in the fictional world of Thedas, just like the games. Netflix previously collaborated with EA and Bioware to make the animated series, Dragon Age: Absolution. Just as they did with the animated series, Bioware will also oversee the development of the live-action series.

Dragon Age: Absolution takes place after the events of the most recent game in the series, Dragon Age: Inquisition, but before the events of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. The new show in development could be a sequel to Absolution, or something new entirely. Unfortunately, we won't know until an official announcement is made. If done right, and the source material is respected, then it could end up being a great adaptation.

1. The Successor To Nintendo’s Switch Showcased Behind Closed Doors At Gamescom

Gamescom hit Cologne, Germany last month, presenting a lot of news and giving fans and the press plenty of games to try out. Nintendo’s booth, for instance, showcased both Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the recent release of Pikmin 4. Behind closed doors, however, the successor to the Nintendo Switch was being shown.

Various sources have corroborated this, with Eurogamer saying that one tech demo shown was a version of the Switch launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild rebuilt for the successor’s beefier target specifications. VGC claims that another tech demo shown was The Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 tech demo that first appeared in 2021. That tech demo was to show Unreal Engine 5 running on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X and what it can bring for those consoles. This successor has also been said to be running Nvida’s DLSS upscaling technology, which should allow games to display at 4K even if only targeting HD resolutions.

With new information coming out about the successor to the Switch, one thing everyone wants to know is when we’ll be hearing about it. According to Eurogamer, the target release date is the second half of 2024. It seems unlikely anything will be said about the successor this year, with Nintendo wanting one more holiday period of sales for the Switch – especially with Super Mario Bros. Wonder releasing this October. After that holiday period, anticipation will be rising for the first official word on the successor to the Switch.
