Warner Bros. Makes Matt Reeves A Multi-Year Film Deal After The Success of 'The Batman'
Warner Bros who has been receiving some mixed reviews in the handling of their TV and Movie business appears to have given themselves a guiding light in the recent storm announcing that Matt Reeves and his production company, 6th & Idaho, will have a first look deal for any projects related to Reeves’ recent box office success in The Batman. This deal will allow Reeves to put forward ANY content for film or television which covers the franchise. Currently, there is a sequel with Robert Pattinson currently being written by Matt Reeves and his team plus the spin-off TV show, The Penguin with Colin Farrell.
Reeves said in a statement, “Making this legendary studio my home is a dream. I am so excited to be working with Mike [De Luca], Pam [Abdy], and Channing [Dungey] and our teams to bring captivating stories I am truly passionate about to the big and small screen.” Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy were hired by Warner Bros Discovery Chief David Zaslav to helm the movie division while Channing Dungey is in charge of the TV group.

In turn, Mike De Luca expressed his excitement for the collaboration saying, “Pam and I gratefully inherited the relationship with Matt from The Batman, and through the beginning stages of planning The Penguin series for HBO Max. We were excited to nail down his overall deal because it’s a cornerstone of what we want to do with the filmmakers that are working at the studio. We want to create an atmosphere where all of these filmmakers can excel and do their work and stay with us once they are inside the Warners family. Keeping Matt and creating a home for him to do more projects in the Batman universe but also originals, was very important to us.”
Matt Reeves’ The Batman was a critical and box office success with fans both new and old to the franchise clamoring for a sequel or more products in the gritty world he created. It also feeds into the changes Warner Discovery wanted to make in their branding by building a Marvel Cinematic Universe feel to their DC products and by now dedicating one brain to the group, we can hope this is the tide that turns the Marvel vs DC rivalry at the movies.
