Netflix Releases First Look At 'Enola Holmes 2'
Netflix took to its official Twitter profile to share a series of images comprising the world’s first glimpse of the follow-up to the 2020 feature-length film, Enola Holmes. Based on the novel The Case of the Missing Marquess, and featuring Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things fame in the title role, the first film established the genius of the younger Holmes in a fourth-wall-breaking tour-de-force that expands on the world created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
The first tweet reveals that Enola seems to have run afoul of the law, finding herself in a paddy wagon with handcuffed hands laid calmly on the folds of a pleated dress as if she had been on the way to or just come from some gala event. The update gives audiences their first visual confirmation of Henry Cavill (Zack Snyder’s Justice League) reprising his role as Sherlock Holmes, as well as Louis Partridge returning as Tewkesbury, as the two lean in on either side of Enola while she holds up a bit of parchment as if comparing it to something in the distance. A third image reveals Helena Bonham Carter (The Crown) returning to the part of Eudoria Holmes, Enola’s mother. In it, the two women seem to be secreted into a small shed or wagon as they look directly into the camera. Whether they are addressing the audience directly, or this is a point of view shot of some kind remains to be seen.
A second tweet confirms the streaming debut date for the film november 4, written in letters of various sizes and bracketed by magnifying glass emojis. In the second series of images, Netflix shows off a shot of Enola running down a city street on an overcast day with a couple of bobbies apparently struggling to keep up. As a counterpoint to the action in this frame, the next image portrays Cavill’s imposing Sherlock, standing in what seems to be another street on a different day, as the sun’s rays strike the facades and diffuse through the dust cloud behind him. Finally, Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Dune) appears in a matronly black dress at an event where the other guests are enraptured by something in front of them. At the same time, she seems distracted, perhaps by the protagonist's appearance.
Enola Holmes is currently streaming on Netflix. Enola Holmes 2 commences streaming on November 4.
