Walt Disney World holds Biggest Make-A-Wish Granting Event Ever Surpassing 150,000 Wishes Granted

Once Upon A Wish Party

Make-A-Wish and The Walt Disney Company met a significant milestone last week after working together since 1980! Walt Disney World hosted the Once Upon A Wish Party this past weekend, along with many other experiences and surprises for over 50 children recognized at the grand event. This celebration surpasses 150,000 wishes for The Walt Disney Company and they commemorated the occasion with royalty like only Disney does best!

Every child attending the Once Upon A Wish Party asked for a wish related to a Disney experience, ranging from meeting the Disney Princesses to performing at Disney World! More than 30 iconic Disney characters greeted the honorary princes, princesses, and their families to make their wishes come true at the event. The Disney bash would not have been complete without a red carpet rollout for the guests’ arrivals, an Alice in Wonderland-themed tea party, and a ball fit for royalty.

One of the special performers of the evening was 17-year-old Mikayla whose wish was to perform at Disney. Earlier this year, Mikayla was invited to Magic Kingdom for her wish fulfillment. She was the Grand Marshal in the Festival of Fantasy Parade, her family stayed in the awe-inspiring Cinderella Castle Suite, and she found out that she would be performing there soon! Mikayla, accompanied by Belle and The Beast, sang several Disney masterpieces at the grand event, including “Beauty and the Beast” from the 1991 classic.

“Wishes have the transformative power to renew hope, uplift spirits and unite families. When you pair that with Disney stories, characters, and experiences, lives are forever changed thanks to the unmatched joy that’s delivered when it’s needed most.” -Leslie Motter, Make-A-Wish America President and CEO

Disney is the most significant contributor to the Make-A-Wish organization. Make-A-Wish aims to fulfill every wish made to them because they know that dreams coming true boosts both mental and physical health. One out of every two wishes granted with Make-A-Wish America has been a wish in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company. This massive wish-granting event will be just the first of many to come, including plans for an event at Aulani Disney Resort and Spa in Hawaii and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
