UPDATE: 'Willow' Hasn't Been Cancelled Rather Taking A Break According To Jon Kasdan
Unlike what was previously reported, Willow has not been cancelled after one season. Jon Kasdan tweeted to offer an update to all, saying that the show is instead on a break.
Thanking fans for their support and passion for the series, even those who “stuck with it for eight hours to critique each episode and let us know exactly which choices you weren’t a fan of.”

Kasdan then talked of future plans. The decision was made last week to release the actors from their contracts for a year to allow them to pursue other opportunities. As he puts it, “it feels unfair to limit an actor’s availability without a clear sense of when you’re going to need them again.”
Production of streaming shows across the industry is slowing down, Kasdan reveals, meaning Willow will not be filming in the next 12 months. “The entertainment industry is in a moment of radical, global upheaval. The terrain ahead is unknown. But do I think enthusiasm for the show will still be meaningful a year from now? Or two? Definitely.” With many companies considering the quantity of content they push out on streaming services, the industry is perhaps understanding that content fatigue is hitting hard.
The second season is said to build on the characters and story of the first, producing a fun, rich, and dark season. Willow is a series that Kasdan has enjoyed working on, and he is excited for what lies ahead. Keep showing your love for the series, and it will always return.
