Ariana Grande And Cynthia Erivo led ‘Wicked’ Coming Sooner Than Previously Thought
Wicked director Jon M. Chu took to Twitter to announce a new release date for the film, which will now arrive in theatres on November 27, 2024. One of the film’s stars, Ariana Grande, also shared the news on Instagram with a post of the film’s logo with the new release date.
Grande will portray Glinda the Good Witch, and Cynthia Erivo will be Elphaba, the infamous Wicked Witch of the West. The film’s initial release date was set a month prior in December, with the film’s sequel planned for December 2025 as well. Also, the film will star Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard and Michelle Yeoh, who recently won an Oscar for her performance in Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.

The first production of the play premiered in 2003, featuring Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth in the leading roles, and continues to remain one of the longest-running productions on Broadway.
Stephen Schwartz is writing the screenplay for the film alongside Winnie Holzman. Marc Platt, who produced the Broadway show, will also be producing the film.
Wicked premieres in theatres on November 27, 2024.
