Daisy Ridley will be reprising her role as Rey Skywalker, the young budding Jedi heroine of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, films in an upcoming Star Wars film, set to release in 2026. The film is tentatively titled New Jedi Order, and, as the title suggests, is expected to feature Rey following in the footsteps of her former mentor, Luke Skywalker, by attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order.

The Jedi Order was previously destroyed by Palpatine at the end of the Clone Wars, as featured in the Prequel Trilogy and Kylo Ren later destroyed Luke’s Jedi Academy a few years before the events of the Sequel Trilogy. Details about the film, one of three planned Star Wars movies to be released in the upcoming years, remain sparse and a script has yet to be seen. However, Ridley announced during an appearance for her latest film, Young Woman and the Sea, that a script is coming soon.

Ridley stated that returning to Star Wars after the final Sequel Trilogy film, 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker is “exciting and nerve-wracking.” Disney has released several Star Wars series on its streaming platform, D+, since 2019, however, Lucasfilm has not released any new films since 2019. That is set to change in 2026 with the tentative release of New Jedi Order and The Mandalorian and Grogu, a continuation of the titular duo’s adventures. A third film, tentatively titled Dawn of the Jedi, is also slated for an eventual release and will feature the discovery of the Force approximately 25,000 years before. James Mangold will be directing that film.
