The cast for the upcoming prequel series Alien keeps growing with the addition of Timothy Olyphant. Olyphant is no stranger to the sci-fi genre, as he played the role of Cobb Vanth in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

According to Deadline, Olyphant will play the role of Kirsch, a synth who mentors an adult-child human hybrid named Wendy (played by Sydney Chandler). Other cast members include Alex Lawther as the soldier CJ, Samuel Blinken as Boy Kavalier, Essie Davis as Dame Silvia, Adarsh Gourav as Slightly, and Kit Young as Toodles.

Alien takes place 70 years ahead of present day and focuses on corporations using artificial intelligence and technology to provide immortality. The iconic xenomorph will likely make an appearance as well.

After Olyphant finished filming for Fargo, filming for Alien began in Thailand on July 19, without SAG-AFTRA members as their strike began four days earlier. Director Noah Hawley said, “I got some footage. Some of the first hour was shot before we had to shut down. It’s stuff to play with and edit.” Filming is expected to resume in early 2024, potentially in January, with Hawley claiming he’s excited to restart work on the production.
