Anyone paying any attention to modern movies has clearly noticed that every franchise is trying to become as successful as Marvel. Now, The Karate Kid is becoming more popular, and the franchise is set to release a new movie, in a move described by The Hollywood Reporter as moving toward The Karate Kid Cinematic Universe.

The movie will star Ralph Macchio, who played the series protagonist Daniel LaRusso in the trilogy that was released in the 80’s, and Jackie Chan, who played the mentor role in the 2010 remake starring Jaden Smith (son of Will Smith). The remake, despite having a budget of only $40 million, made $359 million, almost nine times its original budget. The Karate Kid has become more relevant with the release of Cobra Kai, which also stars LaRusso. Macchio has also starred in a pair of video games about the franchise. Chan and Macchio were featured in a related video that can be seen below.
