The highly anticipated third installment in the cinematic adventures of Paddington Bear is expected to hit US theaters early next year. STUDIOCANAL released the first official trailer for Paddington in Peru late last week and it promises an adventure as the marmalade enthusiastic bear will be traveling “a long way.” His story appears to be coming full circle, taking him back to his roots in Peru.

The official synopsis via STUDIOCANAL reads, “PADDINGTON IN PERU brings Paddington's story to Peru as he returns to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears. With the Brown Family in tow, a thrilling adventure ensues when a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and up to the mountain peaks of Peru.”

There are a few new faces both behind the camera and on screen. Dougal Wilson signed on to replace Paul King, who directed the first two films, and Emily Mortimer was cast as Mrs. Brown, taking over for Sally Hawkins. Plenty of familiar faces are reprising beloved roles, such as Jim Broadbent as Mr. Gruber, Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington, and Hugh Bonneville as Mr. Brown. The film will also feature performances by Antonio Banderas, Olivia Colman, Julie Walters, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Imelda Staunton, and Carla Tous.

Paddington in Peru is expected to be released cinematically in the UK on November 8. It will debut in theaters across the US on January 17. Fear not; Paddington will also be stamping his passport internationally soon. Check out the first official trailer below!
