During the midst of the hype and excitement of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, which is currently releasing episodes weekly, author Rick Riordan decided to give fans something else extra special.

In September 2023, Riordan released a new Percy Jackson and the Olympians novel adventure titled The Chalice of the Gods. It was the first full book featuring Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase since The Blood of Olympus although they did make brief appearances in some of the other series since then. The new Percy and Annabeth adventure excited fans and Riordan’s announcement that there would be more was the icing on the cake.

This week Riordan officially released the cover art for the new book: Percy Jackson and the Olympian: Wrath of the Triple Goddess. The cover art is done by artist Victo Ngai, who also did the cover art for The Chalice of the Gods. It is a gorgeous depiction of the story’s main goddess and her pets, seeming to mix both the Greek and Eastern art style. The book will be released on September 24, 2024.

Along with the cover, the official synopsis was released. The premise of these Percy Jackson adventures is as follows: “Percy Jackson, now a high school senior, needs three recommendation letters from the Greek gods in order to get into New Rome University. He earned his first one by retrieving Ganymede’s chalice. Now the goddess Hecate has offered Percy another “opportunity”—all he needs to do is pet sit her mastiff, Hecuba, and her polecat, Gale, over Halloween week while she is away. How hard could that be?”

Of course, it is not nearly as easy as that, and almost immediately everything starts going wrong starting with another one of the trio, Grover, doing something he definitely should not. “Percy, Annabeth, and Grover settle into Hecate’s seemingly endless mansion and start getting acquainted with the fussy, terrifying animals. The trio has been warned not to touch anything, but while Percy and Annabeth are out at school, Grover can’t resist drinking a strawberry-flavored potion in the laboratory. It turns him into a giant frenzied goat, and after he rampages through the house, damaging everything in sight, and passes out, Hecuba and Gale escape. Now the friends have to find Hecate’s pets and somehow restore the house, all before Hecate gets back on Saturday. It’s going to take luck, demigod wiles, and some old and new friends to hunt down the animals and set things right again.”

This synopsis, along with the cover art reveal has fans even more excited for this newest installment and hopefully, Riordan may be able to sprinkle in some more hints in the months to come as to what we might expect from this next book.
