'Star Wars Outlaws' Big Update Patch Finally Arrives
Last month, Ubisoft announced a new roadmap forward for Star Wars Outlaws, which followed a rather lackluster launch and seemingly internal turmoil at the company that has included a delay of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows and talk about taking the company private. Part of that roadmap was the reveal of a massive update to Outlaws to improve the game’s playability and issues that plagued it since launch.
One of the biggest changes the update brings to the game is the large scaling back of the stealth requirement for many missions. The issue stemmed from players complaining about the overly difficult nature of some missions because the success of the bill depended on not getting caught, and enemy AI was too stupid, allowing players to almost disappear in tall foliage despite performing aggressive actions. Eliminating the stealth kill switch for most missions broadens the options players have for completing missions.

There are too many fixes to talk about individually here, but some of the highlights include gameplay tweaks like Kay stowing a two-handed weapon upon climbing or grappling. Previously, she would drop larger blasters if she did anything that required two hands. Another gameplay update deals with enemies becoming more accurate in combat. Previously, and often sadly hilariously, players could stand around and not take much damage. There are even some clips out there of players standing in the middle of a firefight and nothing happening to them. There’s a joke about stormtroopers in there somewhere. Regardless, and who’s to say if the videos are true (who can trust anything on the internet anymore?), the improvements seem to really increase the enjoyment of the game and combat.
There were also a number of UI/HUD updates, accessibility updates, and more in Ubisoft’s efforts to make the game more enjoyable and account for the rather sloppy launch. It is worth noting that the update does not help players who updated their computer to Windows 11 24H2.
