Interesting news has recently come out regarding the future of Saber Interactive, a video game developer. According to Bloomberg, the Embracer Group, a Swedish video game holding company, has decided to sell Saber to private investors in a pretty hefty deal. In this deal, which is valued at up to $500 million, Saber will shift to private ownership. Embracer has been making a variety of budget-cutting decisions as of late, including a massive number of layoffs, project cancellations, and the closing of studios.

Saber will reportedly continue to develop the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The development of this remake has been a bit dicey over the years, so being concerned about how this sale will impact progression is a fair point; more details will follow with time. This game was first announced in 2021, originally being developed by Aspyr Media. After hitting some bumps along the road, the development of the game was moved to Saber in late 2022.
