Insomniac understood the assignment and stole the show at San Diego Comic-Con with a new trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man. After the last trailer looked at the gameplay of the game, this new trailer gives fans a taste of its story. On top of that, Insomniac reveals new looks at the updated face models for the main characters of the game as well as an introduction to Harry Osborn.

The long-awaited story trailer gives just enough for us to understand partial beats of the story, but leaves a lot for speculation as to what could be going on in New York this time around. Focusing on Harry Osborn who has finally been let out of the tank he’s been confined to for the last two games and as the trailer shows, has rekindled his relationship with his old pal Peter Parker.

Short as it may be, it still gives fans ideas of what is in store for this sequel, with new enemy types running around with one of the antagonists Sergei Kravinoff aka Kraven who wear bear skin and wield large staffs. In the final seconds of the trailer, fans get a look at Venom in action as he wreaks havoc through the streets of New York. On top of that, our ears are blessed with another short but sweet sentence of the ominous threat which is voiced by the extremely talented actor Tony Todd. Though Venom’s one line of “We’re going to heal the world” is short it is exactly what Harry Osborn said whilst speaking to Peter at the beginning of the trailer which is a fairly obvious hint as to who Venom could be. Then again, is it too obvious? Only time will tell.

More familiar faces in the trailer include Martin Li aka Mr. Negative, who comes face to face with Miles Morales for the first time since killing his father. A far but first glimpse at Yuri Watanbe’s new look under the moniker Wraith, and finally a quick and easy-to-miss shot of Rio Morales who is speaking with Spider-Man.

On top of that, Insomniac unveiled a special edition PS5 and controller which release on September 1st and are available for pre-orders Friday, July 28th. The plates and the controller are sold separately for those who already own a PS5 or are only interested in the controller.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases worldwide on October 20th exclusively on PlayStation 5 consoles!
