'Skeleton Crew' Creators Tease Major Reveal In The Show
The Disney marketing machine has been firing on all cylinders recently for the imminent release of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew as fans are getting access to a series of interviews with the show creators, Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, coming from various content creators and outlets.
One of the more intriguing interviews was conducted by Joe Deckelmeier for ScreenRant, whose discussion with Watts and Ford revealed key information about the homeworld of Wim, Neel, Fern, and KB. ScreenRant’s article states that this planet is called At Attin and was once called “the crown jewel of the Old Republic,” with further teases that there is more going on there than even this information.
Fans had already suspected something fishy was going on with the kids’ homeworld, but this new information comes out of left field and suggests many unique possibilities. The term “Old Republic” may refer to two things: the Galactic Republic from the era of The High Republic and the Prequel Trilogy, which was created after the fall of the Old Republic but was given that name in the wake of the Galactic Civil War which established the New Republic, or it is simply referring to the galactic state that existed over a thousand years before the Battle of Yavin. At Attin also has a suspiciously similar name to At Achrann, another planet that will appear in this series, according to details added to promotional images for Skeleton Crew.

What could all of this mean? There are many possibilities, from an exploration of the history of piracy to some connection with the Jedi or Sith, to something more grounded in recent events to the Star Wars galaxy, should the term “Old Republic” simply refer to the Galactic Republic. We’ve certainly been introduced to a new naming system for Star Wars planets (-tooine being the other), but just what connections might exist between Attin and Achrann is not clear. We’ll have to wait and see when Skeleton Crew drops on December 3rd on Disney+.
