With Star Wars: Skeleton Crew steaming into the station in just under two weeks, there has been a flurry of new interviews and articles dropping with members of the cast and people behind the camera. CultureSlate is here to highlight two of these releases!

The first is the filmmaker roundtable discussion posted on November 19th on the Star Wars YouTube channel. Featuring show creator and writer Christopher Ford, show creator, writer, and director of two episodes, Jon Watts, and directors Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and David Lowery, the 11-minute discussion dives into several elements from behind the scenes. The first is how all of the directors and Ford know each other and had connections with Star Wars creatives and film projects that made them a good fit for the show.

Another element they run through is some of the inspirations tone-wise before they end with a discussion of the directing process with the actors. For fans who have been keeping up with Skeleton Crew coverage, much of this is retreaded content from the Empire Magazine article and past interviews, but seeing the expressions and earnest delivery of the talking points demonstrates the excitement each of these behind-the-scenes individuals has for the show.

The second interview that bears highlighting was posted to StarWars.com on November 20th and featured Nick Frost discussing his role as SM-33. Frost first dove into his past with Star Wars before focusing on the unique qualities of SM-33. One of the most intriguing details is that the droid apparently has a small rodent living in his body, with Frost referring to the situation as “a Star Wars Ratatouille.” Frost also mentioned that the character will grow beyond his programming during the series, and despite being physically frightening, the kids love him.

These two drops of behind-the-scenes content will surely be joined by others in the coming weeks! Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premieres December 3rd on Disney+.
