Christina Hendricks Promotes 'Good American Family', Admits To Dream TV Job

Christina Hendricks is a busy lady these days. The Mad Men and Good Girls alum is currently promoting Small Town, Big Story, and Good American Family as well as The Buccaneers. She recently discussed the contrasting elements of the three with Variety. “The tones of my last shows are definitely very, very different. It’s kind of exciting with The Buccaneers, Good American Family and Small Town, Big Story all coming out within a few months,” the actress said.
Hendricks loves a great character, as evident by her resume. She gushed with excitement about playing Wendy Patterson in Small Town, Big Story, saying, “Don’t we all love an eccentric, heartfelt character? That comes from the mind of Chris O’Dowd. He looks at everyone and sees their unique side. It has a sort of friendly, quirky, fun feeling. You want to be in that town, with those people.” Variety describes the story as a “cozy sci-fi.”

Good American Family, on the other hand, according to Hendricks is on the opposite end of the spectrum. “It’s based on a true story and a documentary. It’s a current news story that’s out there, happening today, and it’s absolutely mind-blowing that this could be based on real events,” the actress said. The show is centered around the adoption of a young child who may have been born with dwarfism. The family accuses her of lying about being a child.
Christine Hendricks is not just an accomplished actor with a couple of cult classics under her belt. She’s also a huge fan of television and film. She took the time while promoting her shows to express her thoughts on the impact of television on people. “Television leaves a great impact on people. There are always shows that everyone’s talking about and right now, it’s The White Lotus. We all sit around and talk about it weekly. There is something about TV that makes you feel connected. I especially enjoy it when you can’t binge it and when you have to wait,” she said.
The Mad Men star further expressed her love for the wildly popular HBO show, The White Lotus, specifically, suggesting that a role on the hit is an actor’s “dream job.” “I’ve seen all these videos of Parker Posey on Instagram. Every actor in the world wants to be a part of The White Lotus: it’s like they’ve all won the lottery. You don’t just get a TV show – you get a whole new life. I’m sure they’re enjoying every minute of it,” she said.
Small Town, Big Story is available on Sky streaming services in the UK. Good American Family is expected to premiere on April 5, 2025, on Hulu.
