'Shang-Chi' Sequel Still Not In Sight According To Simu Liu
With the changes occurring at Marvel, Disney, and Lucasfilm after the return of Bob Iger as CEO of Disney, there’s been a lot of uncertainty on the future of the Mouse’s big-name franchises. There have been layoffs, and schedule shifts, and legal allegations against actors that were supposedly pivotal to the future of the MCU.
After being the first Asian lead in a Marvel film, Simu Liu and fans of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings have been looking forward to the sequel after it was announced. Unfortunately, forthcoming information on that is going to be a longer wait, as Simu Liu came out on social media recently and lamented the lack of information.

“Was told it would follow Avengers. But that keeps pushing back due to circumstances beyond my control,” Liu said on the new social media app Threads. “Hope to have more concrete news to share soon.”
Earlier this year, Liu teased that Shang-Chi could appear sooner in another Marvel movie, but he was tight-lipped on the matter beyond a cryptic “we’ll see.”
As far as information about the sequel is concerned, all that is known is that the writer and director of the first movie, Destin Daniel Cretton, has agreed to come back and write and direct the sequel. That was announced back in December of 2021.
Also, don’t go looking for information to be revealed at SDCC this year, as Marvel has decided, surprisingly, to sit this one out.
So, unfortunately for MCU and Shang-Chi fans, they’re going to have to wait longer to find out more about the sequel and the future of the MCU for the master of the Ten Rings.
