Tony Stark’s death had previously been stated to be permanent, but no one would have guessed him returning as another character, let alone one of the most iconic villains of the entire Marvel Universe. Fans have been wanting to see Doctor Doom in the MCU for years now, and now it looks like we’re finally getting our chance.

Doctor Doom had appeared in the Fox Fantastic Four movies, however, his portrayal in them was criticized, especially in Fan4stic. The casting of Downey Jr., on the other hand, means we probably won’t see a Viktor von Doom that’s exactly true to form. Is this Doom an alternate universe version of Tony, or just happens to look like him? We don’t know at the moment, but speculation is sure to run wild. Incidentally, Doctor Doom has taken on the Iron Man title in Infamous Iron Man, so it’s not without precedent. True believers should keep an eye out for future news about Doctor Doom in the future.
