Kang the Conqueror, or at least, his variant “He Who Remains,” comes across as a bit of a nutter in Loki, but he can be worse. A whole lot worse, in fact, downright evil. He is one of Marvel’s most dangerous villains for his time-traveling escapades. Let’s learn why “He Who Remains” is worried about this supervillain from the 31st century.

5. He Laid Waste To Washington, D.C.

Aided by his son Marcus, Kang recruited several villains in their attempt to conquer the present-day earth. With Kang promising them a piece of the pie when everything was over, the villains overwhelmed Earth’s heroes, giving Kang free reign over Earth’s defenses. He ended up decimating Washington, D.C. and killing an untold number of people. Though his conquest of Earth was averted, it was too late for the citizens of D.C.

4. He Encouraged Doctor Doom’s Evil

At one point, Doctor Doom met a heroic version of himself who was universally beloved, causing an identity crisis of sorts. He seriously considered abandoning his evil ways and becoming a savior of civilizations. However, one person stood in his way and prevented this from becoming a reality, Kang the Conqueror. He managed to convince the Latverian dictator to give up on the idea. Doctor Doom would destroy the reality of his good counterpart, and continue his evil ways. At least billions of lives were lost.

3. He Is Called The Conqueror For A Reason

After a brief reign as the Pharaoh Rama-Tut, Kang conquered a future Earth and many other neighboring worlds, and made numerous attempts to conquer other times and planets as well. A possible descendant of Reed Richards and/or Doctor Doom, he possesses a great intellect that such a conquest would require. Who knows how many people he had killed in his conquests? What we do know is that Kang’s domain stretched across the cosmos, and he was always trying to expand it, with present-day Earth being a prime target. Kang was not one to give up, and remained a constant threat to Earth and its inhabitants in our time.

2. He Killed His Son

Kang the Conqueror had a son, Marcus, known under the identity of Scarlet Centurion. Marcus aided his father in his conquest of Earth. However, he fell head over heels for Carol Danvers, and the heroes were able to use this to their advantage against Kang’s plans. In a truly diabolical moment, Kang had Marcus killed. Of course, this also may have set him on the path to becoming Immortus, but that’s a tale for another time.

1. Space-time Is His Plaything

Kang frequently makes use of the timeline for his own tactical benefits. In his fight against Ultron, he made 20 attempts to change history. This almost resulted in the timeline collapsing on itself. This was just one instance. We can only speculate on the number of paradoxes he may have caused by now.

Of course, this is just the mainline Kang the Conqueror, not Immortus or any other variants known to us. This is also specifically the Marvel Comics version. The Mainline Kang will not be making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for another few years, so keep your eyes peeled in the meantime. We never know what will happen next. Kang the Conqueror will remain a dangerous villain in the Marvel universe, and it won’t be long before he strikes again… from his point of view, at least.
