It’s a good time for nerds and television.

Some of the hottest shows on TV, both streaming and otherwise, are things that perhaps 20 years ago would never even get a nomination. Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, Fallout, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and more dominate the conversation, and the accolades continue to line up for them.

With Emmy nominations coming out today, that continues to be the case. With impressive showings from Shogun, and season two of The Bear, it was also impressive to see 16 nominations for Amazon Prime Video’s big gamble on a video game adaptation: Fallout.

Game adaptations have a rough history in film. There are some notorious flops out there, but lately, the tide seems to be shifting. Fallout was a gamble Amazon took on, similar to their acquisition of Lord of the Rings adaptations, and it paid off spectacularly. The show was met with widespread praise and was one of the most streamed shows on Prime when it launched. Fans were also pleased to see the show honor the games’ aesthetic, with extensive attention paid to the detail of the set.

Some of the biggest categories that Fallout received nominations in include Best Drama Series, Lead Actor In A Drama Series (Walton Goggins), Best Writing In A Drama Series (Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Graham Wagner), one of the Production Design categories, Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, Prosthetic Make-Up, Picture Editing, and more.

The 76th Primetime Emmys will air on September 15.
