Lucasfilm Animation To Talk 'Star Wars' At LIghtbox Expo 2023

The LightBox Expo is back for the fifth year! This convention, which takes place from October 27 to October 29, brings artists together, from seasoned professionals to those new to the craft, allowing for many educational opportunities, networking, socializing, and more. Some exciting Star Wars events are occurring through the weekend, including a discussion about The Bad Batch and animation as a career. Lucasfilm will also have a portfolio review table for prospective artists.
The first event takes place on Friday from 2 PM to 3 PM. The panel is titled “THE LIFE OF A SHOT WITHIN THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE,” focusing on The Bad Batch. The panel description describes, “Taking a shot from Star Wars: The Bad Batch through our pipeline, from the Script Page through Design, Assets, Animatic, Animation, Lighting, FX and Final Frame(s).”

The next event is on Saturday, from 11 AM to 12 PM. The title is “YOUR CAREER PATH AT LUCASFILM ANIMATION.” The panel description explains, “A group of talented artists from Lucasfilm Animation will be discussing their career path to LAL as well as their roles and responsibilities! This includes disciplines within concept design, digital assets, story, animation, lighting, lighting concepts, editorial and post.”
The final Star Wars event is also on Saturday, from 5 PM to 6 PM. Titled “MAKING OF STAR WARS: VISIONS - THE PIT,” the panel description describes, “A deep dive with the filmmakers on the story and animation for Star Wars Visions: The Pit, including a walkthrough of the process, exclusive art, and commentary on the film.”

The 2023 LightBox Expo is at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, California. Tickets are still available, the purchase options being a Friday pass, Saturday pass, Sunday pass, or a slightly reduced-price three-day ticket. There is a lot to do, from many panel opportunities to a short film showcase to a portfolio review, and that only scratches the surface.
