Japanese Celebrities Advised Not To Mention 'Palworld' So Not To Damage 'Pokémon' Relations
The controversy surrounding Palworld continues to heat up. Not only has The Pokémon Company released its own statement regarding the popular early-access title, but Japanese celebrities have been advised by their agencies to not mention it. This is due to a fear that it may damage any future collaborations with the Pokémon brand. A talent agency source told Tokyo Sports the following:
"We have told our talent not to mention Palworld on social media or in public. This was done out of consideration for the Pokémon side as an agency. This decision was made in consideration of future potential collaborations.”
Days before this, The Pokémon Company's former Chief Legal Officer Don McGowan stated that he was “surprised that it got so far,” saying that Palworld “looks like the usual ripoff nonsense that I would see a thousand times a year when I was Chief Legal Officer of Pokémon.” So far, while Nintendo has acknowledged the game’s existence, it will not comment on individual cases. Despite the controversy, Palworld continues to be a success, and Microsoft has stated that it will continue to support the game by “providing support to enable dedicated servers,” giving optimization assistance, and helping to speed up the process of providing updates to make the game more accessible to players.
