James Gunn Has Announced That A New Animated Film About Robin Called 'Dynamic Duo' Is Greenlit
We are once again returning to the DC Universe, but this time, it’s a little different. James Gunn has announced that DC Studios and Warner Bros Pictures Animation are working on a new film together, Dynamic Duo. This film will focus on Robin, or rather, Robins, as the film stars both Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. The film is stated to be the first from Swaybox Studios, a New Orleans-based company, with a script by Matt Aldrich and co-production from 6th & Idaho. The film is slated to be a mix of “animation, puppetry, and CGI,” and James Gunn sounded excited for it.
Robin has been a figure in the Batman mythos for many years. First introduced in 1940, Robin was the first “sidekick” in comics and set the stage for later characters. There have been several individuals who have taken the name “Robin”: Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Damian Wayne, alongside others in out-of-continuity stories. Robin was made a pop culture icon in the 1960’s Batman series with Adam West, where his various “Holy, X (Batman)!” lines became a catchphrase. Robins’ new film is sure to give them a boost, but we don’t know when it’ll come out.
