Iman Vellani, Star Of 'Ms. Marvel', Writing A New 'Ms. Marvel' Comic
Entertainment Weekly reports Iman Vellani, the MCU’s live-action Ms. Marvel, is slated to write the next Ms. Marvel comic. Within the most recent comic, Amazing Spider-Man #26, Kamala Khan sacrifices herself to save the universe. Vellani will co-write the comic with Sabir Prizada, who wrote on Ms. Marvel for Disney+.
Speaking about what it will be like to portray Kamala Khan in the MCU and write comic canon for the character, Vellani said, “This was way scarier than joining the MCU for me. Those projects feel like they live in their own dimension, so I guess I can separate myself easier. But you can hold a comic book! I’ve never written anything before in my life, but I have read many comics, so I just wrote what I would want to read. I was given a very professional tool to write what is essentially my own fan fiction.”

The title of the new comic series is Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant which calls back to the finale of Vellani’s character arc within the MCU, which is the first announcement of mutants within the MCU.
“I want to make it very, very clear that we are not retconning her Inhuman origin. That’s a part of Kamala’s identity that Marvel editorial and myself would very much like to keep and protect…Our book will absolutely reflect all those core themes of identity that the Ms. Marvel comics have consistently explored….”
Fans must wait to discover what lies in store for this new mutant, Kamala Khan.
