Here Is What Was Announced On Disney+ Day

Disney+ Day is finally here to herald D23 Expo! When a slate of releases for the day was announced back on August 22, it left off with a suspenseful “…and more!” But what did that amount to exactly? How many titles joined the likes of Thor: Love and Thunder and the Pinocchio remake in getting this splashy release?

Truthfully, not much, but there were still announcements to be had, and the promise of “...and more!” was fulfilled. The biggest of these was the BTS concert film BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage - LA, which surely excited fans of the K-Pop boy band. The second item was a Disney+ Day special look at Andor, which premieres September 21. It was probably the closest thing to last year’s Disney+ Day Specials from Marvel Studios and Pixar. Now while these were released at midnight Pacific as typical for content traffic, there was one more item added mid-day. Good Morning America revealed the cast of the 31st season of Dancing with the Stars. This will be the show’s first season to be a Disney+ original and the service’s first foray into regular live programming.

The other major announcements were not content-related. Unlike last year, the D23 expo will serve that purpose. Continuing on the Disney+ Day celebration, Disney+ subscribers attending the D23 Expo will be treated to special onsite experiences, giveaways, and offers at the convention.

The Disney+ Day Offer, which runs until the end of September 19, is that new and returning customers can sign up for Disney+ for a month for just $1.99 before the regular $7.99 pricing kicks in…and hikes up in December when the ad-supported tier is introduced at its original price point. A handful of perks will also be available for a limited time. Subscribers can get a free six-month trial of Uber One membership and National Geographic digital subscription.

Traveling Disney+ subscribers can save up to 20% on rooms at select Disney Resort hotels for stays most nights from December 11 to Christmas Day, 2022. Disney Cruise Line will have an offer for subscribers booking a trip that departs between January-April 2023 onboard the Disney Magic, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy. With the offer, third and fourth guests will sail free with two full-fare guests in the same stateroom (in select stateroom categories).

Through September 19, select AMC theater offer screenings of fan-favorite Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars films for $5. This offer is available to everyone. However, a special concessions offer will be available for Dinsey+ subscribers.

To celebrate Disney+ Day, Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris offered early entry to subscribers and their guests for the day. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland, subscribers were able to commemorate their experience of the day with complimentary Disney PhotoPass photo downloads.

Well, that’s how this Disney-packed weekend started. The D23 Expo is sure to follow through with some amazing announcements.
