A New Image From HBO's 'The Last Of Us' Focuses On Pedro Pascal And Bella Ramsey

As the premier of the HBO series, The Last of Us draws near fans can expect to see more samples of what to expect, building excitement for the show. As January inches its way ever closer the series’ leads are the focus in the latest image released by Empire Magazine; showcasing Pedro Pascal’s Joel Miller and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie Williams. The picture shows viewers Joel in a protective stance guarding Ellie as she stands behind him shining a flashlight at something that clearly has both of their focus.

Showrunner, Craig Mazin referred to the series as an adaptation of “the greatest story that has ever been told in video games.” Not many could argue given the list of accolades that the game has earned demonstrating its powerhouse status within the medium. The game was developed by Naughty Dog with Sony Computer Entertainment, the storyline follows Joel, a known smuggler in a post-pandemic world. Ellie may be the cure for the devastating illness. Joel is hired to protect Ellie and get her out of the quarantine zone. Two games follow the storyline of these characters. The HBO adaptation is expected to cover the story mainly from the first game; however, they may supplement with material from the second if needed.

Staring alongside Pascal and Ramsey are Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Anna Torv as Tess Servopoulos, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill, Ashley Johnson as Anna Williams, Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen, Storm Reid as Riley Abel, Nico Parker as Sarah Miller, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Troy Baker as James, and Brad Leland as Mr. Adler. The nine-episode series will debut on HBO Max on January 15, 2023.
