Here Is Everything Fans Know About Zack Snyder's 'Rebel Moon'
Fans can soon expect a new addition to the Synderverse. Zack Synder, director of Batman V Superman and Justice League is set to release his newest brainchild, Rebel Moon on Netflix as early as 2023. Rebel Moon, described by Synder as an “epic space opera”, was originally a pitch made to George Lucas before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney. Synder’s pitch, made around the production of the prequels, was thought to be too dark for the Star Wars universe. The official synopsis of the film reads:
"A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. The desperate civilians dispatch a young woman who has a mysterious past to seek out warriors from nearby planets to help them challenge the regent."

Synder revealed that the action sequences on Endor in Star Wars served as an inspiration for the battles in Rebel Moon. While there have been many iterations of the struggle between good and evil set on distant planets, Synder’s penchant for spectacle may bring a new level of cinematography to familiar tropes.
Sofia Boutella of Atomic Blonde and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities is set to star as rebel leader Kora. The film also stars Charlie Hunnam of Sons of Anarchy and Pacific Rim, Ed Skrein of Deadpool as Balisarius, Ray Fisher of Justice League as Blood Axe, Djimon Hounsou of Guardians of the Galaxy as General Titus, and Jena Malone of The Hunger Games, with an appearance of Anthony Hopkins as war robot JC1435.
Both Rebel Moon and Rebel Moon 2 were filmed back to back, and wrapped in November of this year. While the franchise will draw heavily on inspiration from its sci-fi predecessors, Synder is sure to pull off a space adventure that can hold its own with the greats.
