After years of anticipation, the premiere of “Great Pretender: Razbliuto” is on the horizon, and more details have emerged as to where and when the first episode drops.

Earlier this week, Crunchyroll announced that they will be streaming Great Pretender: Razbliuto worldwide on February 22nd at 8pm EST, while the series will premiere in Japan on February 23rd, streaming exclusively on Japanese streaming service DMM TV. The series will also make its debut in the Middle East and Africa simultaneously with Japan. The series previously made a theatrical debut on January 9th and 10th in North America. In conjunction with the show’s release, TOHO has released a new trailer for the series as well.

RELATED:

Great Pretender: Razbliuto is a sequel and spinoff to the 2020 crime-dramedy anime “Great Pretender” which was produced by WIT Studios. Great Pretender premiered in Japan on Fuji TV in July 2020 and was split into two cours (quarters of a year) a combined 23 episodes total. The series dropped worldwide on Netflix in August 2020, which is why it comes as a surprise that Crunchyroll would acquire the sequel’s streaming rights over Netflix.

This sequel follows Dorothy, a con artist who was first introduced through a series of flashbacks in Great Pretender’s second cour, during which she was seemingly killed by a Shanghai crime syndicate. A post-credit scene confirmed that she survived, but lost her memories and is living peacefully in Taipei. This sequel will pick up from there as Dorothy finds herself in the crosshair of Taipei’s criminal underground.

Great Pretender: Razbliuto begins streaming on Crunchyroll on February 22nd. Great Pretender is available to stream in its entirety on Netflix.
