'Final Fantasy VII Rebirth' To Have A High Degree Of Freedom
More information has been rolling out of Sony headquarters about the much anticipated Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. This is the second adaption of the original Final Fantasy VII for the PlayStation was one of the most popular installments in the franchise, and faithful fans are eager to see Cloud Strife and his iconic sword back in 4K.
The official Final Fantasy VII Twitter account, (run by video game production company Square ENIX) has been very active, dropping hints about the new game. Director Naoki Hamaguchi announced in a Q&A that Final Fantasy VII will take place in a “multifaceted world with a high degree of freedom”, but he stopped short of saying that fans will have an open world interface, emphasizing there will still be a strong narrative. Developers are still finding it hard to top the massive world map of Final Fantasy XV. It may be wise to be cautious.

In addition to the gameplay, Battle Director Teruki Endo has said there are going to be more playable characters during combat, and more ways to utilize their abilities. Expect surprises from Red XIII, Yuffie, Cait Sith, Vincent, and Cid. Final Fantasy VII was famous for not taking itself too seriously, it was littered with fun mini-games, secret weapons (acquiring the Ruby weapon needed luck rather than skill) Chocobo racing. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade could have taken this further. It would be a disappointment if the follow-up continued to erode a key part of its charm. There’s no release date for the game from Square ENIX, but they may tell us more at the Summer Games Fest next week.
