Development on season two of The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime is well underway in England, and enterprising locals have found ways to grab pictures of the filming and set construction from a distance. So far, we’ve seen some elves on location in Surrey and early stages of set construction.

However, Redditor yakadoodle123 has posted aerial photos of season two sets much further along. The images reveal two sets at the same location, but one is distinctly Elven in construction. Centered around a plaza that encircles a canopied rock. Upon close inspection, it seems to be a fountain since there’s a break in the circle that runs off into another enclosure below it. The canopy looks elven, but comments within the Reddit post suggest it may actually be Númenor, which is a remnant of the Elven origin of Númenor. The rest of the set has buildings framed out and many small alleys, which do look familiar to the Númenor scenes from season one, not something seen in Lindon or Eregion.

There’s another set just set off from the first one within the same lot, but it’s unclear if it’s just being built or not. Looking closely, however, it seems deliberately built the way it is and would suggest it’s part of the Orc trench system Adar and his Orcs were constructing in season one. Again, wooden framing holds up deep, earthen mounds and walls.

With Mordor having emerged by the end of season one and Lindon, Eregion, and Numenor already established locales, these could be sets to further expand what has already been seen. Nori and The Stranger are heading east into the Rhun, which has yet to be seen and is home to ancient Elven populations, so there is that possibility.

However, it will be some time before more information and details come to light, as the second season is set to premiere in 2024
