Hugh Jackman Drops New Details About Wolverine In 'Deadpool 3'

Hugh Jackman might be Kevin Feige’s new Alfred Molina after Jackman’s comments about his return as everyone’s favorite three-clawed mutant. Jackman spoke with the Empire Film Podcast and shared a few details about the relationship between the Merc with a Mouth and Logan in the upcoming film Deadpool 3.
Jackman is currently working on the Broadway musical The Music Man, which, he explained, makes finding time to work out for his return as Logan difficult:
“I’m doing eight shows a week right now, so I’m only lifting weights three times a week. I’ll be getting into it once or twice a day as soon as this is done in a month. And I’ll have six months to prep, and I always have the same approach every time I go in.”

Feeding into the shared love/hate relationship between the two actors, Jackman shared that his motivation to do his best in the gym has everything to do with being in better shape than his co-star:
“I want it to be better than ever, to be in better shape than ever, more able to do things than ever. I just get the added incentive of taking Ryan Reynolds out each day.”
Jackman further commented on Deadpool and Wolverine’s onscreen relationship:
“How do I categorize it? Ten being really close, zero being the reality, we’re zero, we’re opposites, hate each other. I’m just talking from my perspective, [Logan’s] frustrated by him, wants to be a million miles away from him, or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’m probably going to punch him in the head a lot.”
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the first two Deadpool films, will also write the script for the third installment. Shawn Levy will direct the movie after working with Ryan Reynolds in The Adam Project and Free Guy.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled to release on November 8, 2024.
