Ryan Reynolds took to social media to announce filming had concluded for Deadpool's highly anticipated third installment. The announcement was made on Instagram with a photo of the Merc with a Mouth’s crotch with the caption, “The suit hides the blood. Also sweat...But today, with Deadpool wrapping, it’s mostly tears. A giant and forever thanks to the cast and crew of our film who battled wind, rain, strikes, and @thehughjackman all under the stalwart leadership of @slevydirect. I got to make a movie with my closest pals and that doesn’t happen very often. See you July 26th.”

Initially, Deadpool 3 was to be released on May 3, 2024; however, the film was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike last year. The new release date is July 26, and fans couldn’t be more excited to see their favorite foul-mouthed superhero alongside beloved characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hugh Jackman, who is returning to the role since 2017’s Logan, also posted on social media saying, “What a ride!!! I’ve loved every minute of making this movie. Well not the training and diet but the other 93.2%. To the best cast and crew, thank you! You are all aces. To two of my best mates @vancityreynolds and @shawnlevydirect I literally couldn’t have done this without you. Literally! July 26th can’t come soon enough. Time to shave.”

Fans are eager to see Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney purchased Fox in 2019. The film’s director, Shawn Levy, spoke with fans at TIFF in September and explained the approach taken for the film. “We wanted something that felt, grounded, real..You put Hugh Jackman in his most iconic character alongside Ryan Reynolds in his most iconic character; its more of a descendant of Midnight Run, and 48 Hours and Planes, Trains, And Automobiles more than its a descendant of Airplane.”

Deadpool 3 comes to theatres on July 26, 2024.
