A key piece of news for the development of the highly-anticipated upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again has been announced. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dario Scardapane has been named as the showrunner for the series! This is a key development for Born Again following Marvel Studios’ announcement of a new creative direction for the show. Scardapane served as the executive producer for The Punisher (2017-2019). His credits also include Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan (2022-2023), State of Affairs (2014-2015), and Trauma (2009-2010).

Not only has a new showrunner been announced, but two directors have been tapped in to direct the latter few episodes of the series. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are a directing duo with a fair bit of experience in the MCU. The pair directed two episodes of Moon Knight (2022), and most recently two episodes in season two of Loki. Other credits include an episode of The Twilight Zone (2019-2020), Synchronic (2019), and The Endless (2017).

This news follows the announced new creative direction Daredevil: Born Again is to take. The show was originally supposed to come out in the Spring 2024 season. The Hollywood strikes kicked off the first delay for the series; during this pause, Marvel Studios decided to take the show in a new direction, overhauling the story and parting ways with the original writers. While waiting for the new series, the Netflix original Daredevil can be streamed on Disney+, as can The Defenders and The Punisher.
