'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Star Richard Lewis Has Passed Aged 76
All good things must come to an end. Richard Lewis, the comedian who made a viable career while competing with the likes of Richard Belzer, Elayne Boosler, Robert Klein, and Jerry Seinfeld has passed on to the other side at the age of 76. According to official reports, the cause of death is a heart attack.
Lewis starred as himself in the TV show Curb Your Enthusiasm, running from 2000- 2024, appearing in the pilot plus 41 other episodes. Despite being known for this role, he has had many other roles, many of which he was a consistent guest. Lewis also appeared as a recurring guest on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson, Late Night With David Letterman, Late Night With Conan O’Brien, The Daily Show, and many others. He also had guest roles in many shows, including Everybody Hates Chris, The Simpsons, Two And A Half Men, and BoJack Horseman. He was also very well known for his stand-up comedy, having a routine known for his indulgence in dark humor.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 29, 1947, Lewis was known as the class clown. Later he would meet long-time friend and collaborator Larry David at Cornwall-on-Hudson Summer Camp. Lewis began to get roles on the small screen in the 1970s, and rose to prominence in the 1980s, during which time he also gained movie roles.
