Shondaland has updated fans about which Bridgerton sibling will be the focus of season four. It’s finally Benedict’s turn! The ton’s second son has waited very patiently, as in the novels Benedict was paired up before season 3’s Colin and Penelope. Julia Quinn’s book, An Offer from a Gentleman is a Cinderella-style matchup. A masquerade ball (hinted at in the video) is a key feature.

But unfortunately, it is likely to be a full two years before we will get to see Luke Thompson’s glow-up into the season lead. Bridgerton isn’t going to rush its filming schedule despite its popularity.

Showrunner Jess Brownell said at the season 3 London Premier, "We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language,” she said. “And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range.”

Aside from a suspicious casting call for a character with the placeholder name of ‘Emily’, there’s been no official word of what direction Bridgerton will take with Benedict’s paramour. The changes made at the end of season three suggest that Shondaland has no issue shifting away from the source material when it suits them.
